Microsoft has a long and fun history of hiding Easter eggs, secret games, and other quirks in its operating systems. Who can forget Hall of Tortured Souls in Microsoft Office in Windows 95 or Pinball in Word 97? Windows 10 isn’t as fun as previous versions, phasing Easter eggs since it started its Trusted Computing initiative in 2002. But there are still some hidden surprises here and there. Here are our secrets and favorite Windows 10 Easter eggs.

1. Dedicated Doom port
The smash hit first person shooter, Doom, took a few years to hit the Windows platforms, but when it did, it sparked a huge scream. The game was called Doom 95 and in the classic id Software joke, they assigned 666 as the game’s network port.
Surprisingly, to this day, port 666 is assigned by default to Windows 10’s Doom game, in honor of the groundbreaking demon eruption game.
Go to “C: WindowsSystem32driversetc”, then open the “services” file in Notepad or another text editor and scroll down until you find Doom.
2. make phone calls
You’ll need a modem set up for this, which isn’t a major feature on most newer computers and laptops. However, if you do, you can quickly make phone calls from your Windows 10 PC.
Just pressWygrać+Rto open a run command, then type “dialer.exe”. Click OK.
If you have a modem or phone connected to your computer, you’ll see a numeric keypad. Otherwise, you’ll get a warning message asking you to set things up.
3. Star Wars CMD movie
It’s no secret that many developers are fans at heart as well, with appreciation for science fiction, fantasy and all the nerds. Do a bit of research on Windows 10 and you may stumble upon this cute version of Star Wars Telnet hidden in the command line.

Then scroll down to the entry “Telnet Client”, check the box next to it and click OK.

4. God mode
This one may sound a bit more dramatic than it really is, but God Mode is still a handy feature that lists all of your Control Panel options in a long list.
Just browse anywhere on one of your hard drives in File Explorer, create a new folder by right-clicking on an empty space and go to “New -> Folder”, then name your folder as follows:

You will see that the folder will immediately turn into a Control Panel icon. Just double-click the icon and you will see all the Control Panel options on the screen. You can change the display option to List or Details for maximum clarity.
5. Hobbits in Windows
Remember what we said about developers who are passionate about fantasy and science fiction? Well, this Easter egg takes that point home, because Windows 10 has a hidden picture of Frodo’s house from The Lord of the Rings movie.
To find it, go to “Settings -> Accessibility” and then “Subtitles” in the left panel.
In the preview window, you’ll see an idyllic green hill with a built-in hobbit straight from the Lord of the Rings movie.
6. Quick access desk
While you may know itWygrać+regives you instant access to the desktop, did you know that there is a mostly hidden shortcut next to the notifications? It is so thin that most users never see it. This makes it an Easter egg.
Look to the right of the notifications and you will see a thin strip. Click on it and everything will be minimized immediately, bringing you to the desktop.
If you want to hide a running app, you can also minimize it to the system tray using various third party tools.
7. Cortana games
Easter eggs in Windows 10 aren’t as plentiful as previous versions, but it somehow makes up for that by hiding some games in Cortana’s voice assistant.
There are a few games you can play with Cortana. You can tell him to “toss a coin” which is obvious. Then there is “Rock Paper Scissors” and a movie trivia game that activates by saying “play the movie game”.
Newer versions of Windows 10 have changed the way Cortana works. If you are unable to access these games, you are probably using the latest version which is great for security but not so good for Easter egg games.
8. Change the command prompt
Tired of boring black and white? One of the funniest Easter eggs in Windows 10 for those who use the command line is often the personalization feature.
Open a command prompt and right-click on the title bar. Select Properties and start customizing. Change the font, font size, layout, shortcuts and colors. Want a bright teal with black text? No problem. To see all changes, please exit the command prompt and restart it.
