Omos being absent from Nigeria for more than a decade, Omos, the WWE Superstar, was recently photographed in the country with members of his family.
On Monday, the 7 feet 3 inch superstar was seen being greeted with a very warm reception in his house in Lagos, and he was photographed with members of his family during this time.
Tolulope Jordan Omogbehin, better known by his ring name The Nigerian Giant ‘Omos,’ was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and is the only Nigerian international wrestler who is presently competing in the RAW division of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
Omos is a former collegiate basketball player who played for the University of South Florida and for Morgan State University, where he played for a year before signing with WWE in 2019. Prior to his time at Morgan State University, Omos played for the University of South Florida.
A former Raw Tag Team Champion in WWE, he and AJ Styles held the belts during the summer of 2021. He is also a former WWE Intercontinental Champion.
There were rumors circulating in January 2019 that WWE had signed Omos and six other athletes to train at the WWE Performance Center.
Omos made his debut in the ring on the 18th of July, 2019, during a house event on the 18th of July. He won a two-on-one handicap match against team 2.0, which consisted of Angelo Parker and Matt Menard.
After that, he would continue wrestling at house shows over the course of the subsequent months.
On the other hand, he made his official debut on television in June of 2020, during an edition of Monday Night RAW. There, he was introduced as a surprise member of Akira Tozawa’s ninja faction.
Omos was the tallest member of the group, therefore when he stood at ringside during team Tozawa’s tag match against The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders, he was merely referred to as the “Giant Ninja.” This was because Omos was the tallest member of the faction.
After that, he was rebranded as a bodyguard and worked as the doorman and bouncer for Shane McMahon’s RAW Underground program. This happened not long after.
Omos began associated with AJ Styles in October 2020, after the cancellation of Raw Underground. At Survivor Series, he was introduced with a new ring name, which the is known as Omos. In October 2020, Raw Underground was canceled.
Omos made the announcement that he would be making his televised in-ring debut at WrestleMania 37 alongside Styles, where they would compete against The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. Omos made the announcement during an episode of Raw that aired in March 2021.
After hitting Kingston with a choke bomb and pinning him, Omos and Styles were able to defeat The New Day and capture the belts as a result of their victory in the tournament.
However, Omos and Styles were ultimately unable to defend their Raw Tag Team Championship title against RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Matt Riddle).
Omos competed in a dual-branded battle royal with 25 other competitors at the Survivor Series in November 2021. The event was held in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of The Rock’s debut at the 1996 Survivor Series.
The match was won by Omos, who had the most eliminations (12), and did so by eliminating Ricochet in the last round.
In 2021, following several weeks of stress between the two of them, the two effectively severed their partnership with each other.
After Bobby Lashley betrayed Omos earlier in April of this year, Omos hired MVP as his manager and immediately began feuding with Lashley. MVP’s hiring of Omos came shortly after Lashley’s betrayal.
He prevailed against Lashley at WrestleMania Backlash with the assistance of MVP, but on the edition of Raw that aired on May 16, he was defeated by Lashley in a steel cage match. After the events of Hell in a Cell, Lashley put an end to their feud.
After that, Omos shifted his focus to the reappearance of Braun Strowman.
The match took place on November 5 at Crown Jewel, and it ended with the ‘Monster Among Men’ prevailing over the Nigerian giant.
