Robert Rihmeek Williams, better known by his stage name Meek Mill, is a big-time rapper from the United States. He has said that he regrets making a music video in the Ghanaian Presidential Villa.
The rapper, who was born in Philadelphia and was a headlining artist at the 2022 Afro Nation, which took place on December 29th and 30th, 2022 at Marine Drive, Black Star Square, Accra, Ghana, reported that he had a wonderful time in the Gold Coast and also met the President.
On the other hand, the rapper came under fire after he uploaded a video that was shot in the Jubilee House governmental facility over the past weekend. This structure is Ghana’s official residence as well as the office for the country’s president.
In response to the many negative things Ghanaians had said about the rapper online, he wrote an apology on Twitter:
“My apologies to the people if any disrespect! We still gonna push to make the connection between black people in America and Africa…what I’m trying to do is more than a video and you should see coming soon! My apologies to the the office also!
“To the people of Ghana no video I drop is ever meant to disrespect the people of Ghana …. The fastest way to make a connection is thru music and I wanted to do that with displaying art … im in my 30’s from America and didn’t know much about the lifestyle here.”
He stated that those working for Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo were unaware that he was photographing them in their offices. Since then, he has taken the video down from all of his social media sites.
