The Xbox One controller is good. Some would even say it’s the best, but the ergonomic differences between it and the PS4 controller are for a different day. Today we’re going to show you how to connect your Xbox One controller to Android, allowing you to play all your favorite mobile games the way you should play them: with analog sticks, rumble, and the corresponding buttons on your face.

In this article, Niketrainers.com.co will tell you:
Do you have the right Xbox One controller?
Before starting, you’ll need to make sure your Xbox One controller is the latest model. Older Xbox One controllers use RF wireless technology to communicate with devices, while newer Xbox One controllers use Bluetooth, which means they will be able to connect via Bluetooth to an Android phone.
So how do you verify this? Simple. The newer style controllers look a bit different, with a unibody face that doesn’t have a separate plastic area around the Xbox button (see image below).
Virtually every new Xbox One controller you buy today should have Bluetooth capability. If you have an old RF controller, you can still connect your Xbox One controller to your phone usingthe Micro USB to USB adapter.
Connect the XBO controller to Android via Bluetooth
If you’ve got the right driver then congratulations as connecting it wirelessly to your Android phone should be a child’s play.
1. On your phone, go to the Bluetooth settings by opening the Quick menu at the top of the screen and holding the “Bluetooth” icon for a few seconds or going to “Settings -> Connected devices”.
2. Tap “Pair New Device”. This will automatically activate Bluetooth and start searching for devices.
3. Next, press and hold the Xbox button on your controller for about a second until it flashes, then press and hold the small black pairing button (between the buttons on the bumper) for about three seconds until the Xbox button flashes faster. This means that the controller’s Bluetooth module is looking for devices to connect to.
When you return to the phone’s Bluetooth pairing screen, “Xbox Wireless Controller” should appear as an option. Touch it and in a few seconds the phone should be paired with the controller.
Reconnect the Xbox One controller to Android
In the future, if you want to reconnect your Xbox One controller to your Android device, simply turn on the controller, turn on Bluetooth on your phone, and it should pair.
If not, you may need to go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings (or “Connected devices”), tap “Previously Connected Devices”, and then select “Xbox One Controller” from the list.
If you connect your Xbox One Controller to another device in the meantime, the pairing process may be required to reconnect.
Using the Xbox One controller on Android
After connecting your Xbox One controller, you will see that you can use it to navigate on your Android device. The controls are quite simple:
Movement:D-pad and left analog
Please select:A, Y
Source:B, Xbox buttons
Play Android games with the Xbox One controller
If you are using a retro game emulator like Retroarch for Android or one of the great Game Boy Advance emulators, it should detect that you are using a gamepad and auto-mapping controls (which you can then tweak and tweak in the emulator).
If you’re looking for games from the Play Store that use a controller, it’s a bit of a hassle. As it stands, there’s no way to find out if a game is compatible with your controller until you open the game to test it out (or check out our list of the best controller-compatible games). Fortunately, many Android games are already controller compatible, and genres like racing games, platformers, and shooters should be able to play with the Xbox One gamepad.
Troubleshooting
1. The driver doesn’t work on Android 11
Some users have reported that certain accessibility settings may interfere with the performance of the controller. Go to “Settings -> Accessibility” and uncheck “Zoom” to see if it helps. If that fails, try disabling all accessibility settings one by one to see if any of them is the culprit.
2. The controller is not assigned correctly
If some buttons do not work after connecting your Xbox One controller to Android, try updating your Xbox One controller firmware. You can do this by connecting the controller to your computer and downloading theXbox Accessories app.
In the Xbox Accessories app, click the three-dot menu icon under your controller, then look in the top left corner to see if it needs a firmware update. If so, just click the button and let the download continue. After that, you may need to pair the controller with your Android phone again.
3. The controller is not working
If your Xbox One Controller doesn’t work with your Android phone, you can try the classic trick of making your phone forget the controller before pairing it again.
To disconnect a paired controller. go to “Settings -> Connected devices -> View all”.
Tap the gear icon next to the Xbox Wireless Controller, and then tap Forget. When done, pair your controller again as described earlier in this guide.
This should make you work with the Xbox One controller for Android, with the main caveat being whether you have a new or old controller model.
