According to Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for president on the ticket of the PDP, there won’t be anything similar to the strike that was led by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) under his administration.
The former vice president made the announcement while speaking to party leaders and supporters on Saturday in Edo Condition. He stated that if he were to be elected, his top goals would be to bring the country together and to solve the current state of insecurity.
In addition, the PDP standard bearer, who was flanked by other party heavyweights, brought up his campaign promises to revitalize all failing industries and establish obligatory basic and secondary education. He claimed that the current administration has been unable to accomplish any of these goals, and he mentioned them during his speech.
Atiku stated further that all children of school-going age would be required to attend school while he was in office.
The candidate also pledged to work with the private sector to revitalize and connect rail lines around the country in order to facilitate simple access and mobility throughout the country at all hours of the day and night.
He appealed to the people of Edo to maintain their support for the PDP in the same manner that they have in the past, assuring them that they would be rewarded for their steadfastness.
Atiku, in the course of his criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the incumbent party had “destroyed the economy of this country.” They have eliminated the opportunity for you to further your studies. They have eliminated the chances you had of getting a job. The APC was not involved in the event that was supported. As a result, we appeal to you to maintain your commitment to the PDP, and we assure you that the PDP will continue to demonstrate its commitment to you.
“We are going to send all of our children who are eligible back to school. They are required to attend school, as is every other youngster in the world. If you recall, during the years of the PDP, we mandated that all children in Nigeria attend primary school and then continue on to high school. Now, it is the responsibility of the Nigerian people to educate these children.
“However, the current administration is not living up to that commitment. We guarantee that by the grace of God, every child will be required to attend school, and none of our educational institutions will go on strike. This is our solemn vow to you.
“Once more, we affirm our commitment to reviving the economy of this nation. We are going to make certain that production in all of our domestic industries and factories gets back up and running as soon as possible. We will work to ensure that there are sufficient employment opportunities for our young people when they graduate from school. This is what we mean when we talk about giving new life to the economy.
