After receiving notice of another attack on their community three days after terrorists attacked Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital, residents of the Gulu community in the Lapai local government area of Niger State are filled with palpable fear. This fear has been engulfed by residents of the Gulu community.
The Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital was reportedly attacked by terrorists on Tuesday morning, during which at least two individuals were killed and at least ten more were kidnapped.
Ben, a medical doctor, and his colleague, a hospital pharmacist, were two of the people who were taken hostage when the hospital was robbed.
SaharaReporters cites a source within the community as saying that residents of the Vulegbo area, which is close to the community, saw a letter in which it was stated that terrorists were planning to attack the community once more on October 30, 2022. The letter was reportedly seen by the residents of the Vulegbo area.
“Because of this, a number of folks who were living here decided to pack up their families and move to a neighborhood that is safer.” Even I, as I talk to you right now, shall depart this place later on today. According to the source, there is anxiety at every location.
When asked about those who were kidnapped on Tuesday by the community, the source said he heard their families have been trying to reach out to the kidnappers to find out if they will demand any ransom for their release. The community wanted to know if the kidnappers would demand any money in exchange for the hostages’ release.
On the other hand, he pleaded with the authorities to assist them so as to forestall any additional assaults carried out by the terrorists.
“As a matter of extreme urgency, we are appealing to the emirate, the chairman of the local government, officials of the state at the national level, and security services to come to our assistance. If this does not happen, he argued, “none of us would be able to stay in our houses.”
