Anyone with a Windows 10 PC probably knows OneDrive, whether they like it or not. This service is built into Windows 10 basic memory and offers a great way to sync your files to the cloud, especially from a Microsoft device.
In Windows 10, the OneDrive icon usually appears in the system tray. This icon is the gateway to OneDrive cloud storage, although it is known to get lost and disappear from time to time.
There are several reasons for the OneDrive icon not appearing in the system tray. We’ll go over the various tweaks here.
In this article, Niketrainers.com.co will tell you:
Enable the tray icon
The method below will work for missing icons on the systray.
1. Right-click on the taskbar and select “Taskbar Settings”.
2. In the taskbar settings window, scroll down to “Notification Area”. Click “choose which icon will appear on the systray”.
3. Check the switch next to Microsoft OneDrive. If it is turned off, make sure it is turned on.
Completely uninstall and reinstall OneDrive
Reinstalling the OneDrive app is one, the usual method of going to your “Applications and Features” list, but to really have a fresh OneDrive installation that doesn’t transfer any problems or errors from your previous installation, it’s best to skip through the save.
1. Presskontrola+Rand enter “regedit” in the field.
2. Navigate to the following registry directory:
ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsOneDrive
3. Here, right-click the “DisableFileSyncNGSC” registry entry, click Modify, and then type “0” in the Value data box.
4. Click OK and close the registry editor.
5. Then open the command prompt as administrator and enter the following commands on separate lines:
% SystemRoot % SysWOW64OneDriveSetup.exe / uninstall % SystemRoot % SysWOW64OneDriveSetup.exe / install
Your OneDrive should now reinstall itself, which should fix the missing icon problem.
Show OneDrive icon
Often, the only issue is the hidden OneDrive icon. This is common on Windows 10, especially when there are too many icons on the taskbar. To see if this is the case with the OneDrive icon on your system, click the Show hidden icons icon on the systray. This is the up arrow icon on the left side of the taskbar. This will reveal all hidden icons. If your OneDrive was hidden, it will appear in a small popup. In my case, as shown in the image below, OneDrive isn’t hidden.
Reset OneDrive
If the previous solutions didn’t work for you, try the third step. Resetting OneDrive will fix the problem if it’s caused by a corrupted OneDrive cache. Follow the steps below to reset OneDrive.
1. PressWygrać+Rto open the Run window. Copy and paste the text below and click OK.
% localappdata % MicrosoftOneDriveonedrive.exe / reset
2. Wait for about two minutes to see if the OneDrive icon appears. If not, repeat the process using the path below.
% localappdata % MicrosoftOneDriveonedrive.exe
This fix should show the OneDrive icon again.
Check the policy settings
If the reset did not work, the last step is to verify the policy settings. Occasionally, this could be a problem caused by third-party apps or anti-tracking programs. They often result in modifications to the operating system and may disable the OneDrive icon. In this case, check the policy settings.
To check Windows 10 Group Policy Editor and find and fix any modifications caused by third-party programs in OneDrive, follow these steps.
1. Typegpedit.msc
in the Run window.
2. Go to “Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components”. Double-click OneDrive in the right pane.
3. Right-click “Avoid Using OneDrive for File Storage” and click Edit.
4. Make sure “Not Configured” or “Disabled” is selected in the policy settings. Click Apply and OK.
5. Restart the computer and the problem should be solved.
