If you have a Spotify Premium subscription, you can download your favorite songs to play offline. While handy, it can eat up your phone’s memory quickly. How to Delete Downloaded Spotify Songs on iPhone and Android
If you downloaded songs via the Spotify app, you can easily delete these songs from your phone’s memory:
1. Launch the Spotify app on your mobile device.
2. Touch the “Your Library” tab.
3. Touch “Playlists” or “Albums” depending on the content you want to delete. All downloaded items will be displayed with a small green icon.
4. Touch the playlist or album you want to delete from your device’s internal storage.
5. Find the little green “Download” icon and tap it.
6. When prompted, tap “Delete”.
This album or playlist will now be removed from your mobile device. Rinse and repeat to get any additional music you want to delete from internal storage.
Android users: move your music to SD card
For Android users, Spotify may have saved offline music to Android’s internal storage instead of an external SD card. In this scenario, you can move your Spotify music to an external SD card.
Note– In order for Spotify to save music to the external SD card, the only requirement is that the remaining space on the SD card is larger than the phone’s internal memory. For example, if there is only 4GB of space left on your SD card and your phone’s internal memory is 5GB, Spotify will still save offline music to your phone’s internal storage.
First, you need to delete all cached and offline music from your phone’s internal storage. To do this, open the Spotify app on your Android phone and tap on the gear icon. The Spotify settings page will open.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen. This is where the option “Clear Cache and Saved Data” should appear. Click on this option and select “OK”. This will erase all cached and saved data from your phone’s internal storage and log out of Spotify.
Using the file manager, go to the path “Android -> data”. Find the “com.spotify.music” folder and delete it.
Finally, log back into the Spotify app on your phone and resume downloading your favorite offline playlists and albums. When using the file manager, you should see that your offline music is now saved on the external SD card (in the “Android -> data -> com.spotify.music -> files” folder).
