CKay, Fireboy DML, and Tems all have their names inked on the list of nominees for the upcoming 2022 Soul Train Awards. This is in comparison to Burna Boy, who received four nominations for the event.
The Nigerian musicians submitted their work for consideration in a variety of prize categories. Tems received nominations in the categories of “Best New Artist,” “Best R&B/Soul Female Artist,” and “Best Collaboration” for her work on the song “Move,” which was performed by Beyoncé and featured Grace Jones as well as the Nigerian talent.
Both Fireboy and CKay were put up for consideration for the “Best New Artist” award, where they faced off against other up-and-coming musicians from around the world, such as Steve Lacy, Coco Jones, Muni Long, and others.
During this time, Burna Boy was honored with a nomination in each of the following categories: ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Video of the Year,’ ‘Best R&B/Soul Male Artist,’ and ‘Best R&B/Soul Male Artist.’
Las Vegas will play host to the 2022 edition of the Soul Train Awards on November 13 of the same year. Deon Cole, an American comedian and actor who has won multiple awards, will serve as the event’s host.
