There is a possibility that two domestic employees who were held in connection with the murder of Ifeanyi Adeleke, who was three years old and the son of popular artist Davido and his fiancée Chioma Rowland, would be charged with carelessness in connection with the incident.
A reliable source told PUNCH on Wednesday that the nanny and the cook were directly responsible for Ifeanyi’s well-being. This information was given by the source to PUNCH on Wednesday.
According to the source, “Since the cook and the nanny were the only adults who had direct contact with the infant, they are responsible for the child’s death pending the results of the autopsy.” During the course of the investigation, we have individuals who we believe may be responsible for the crime; nevertheless, the fate of these individuals will depend on the specifics of the case.
“Up to this point, the family has not voiced any opposition to the autopsy; nonetheless, the hospital will determine how quickly it is performed. However, the next step is to check out the security footage from the CCTV system in the residence.
Following Ifeanyi’s drowning death in a swimming pool at his father’s apartment in the Banana Island neighborhood of Lagos State, the police detained the nanny and the cook while releasing six of the other staff. Ifeanyi’s father lived in the area.
According to reports from PUNCH, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who verified the detention of the suspects, declined to disclose any details when approached for a follow-up comment. This was done in order to prevent preempting the investigation into the case.
He stated that “if we need to detain them for longer than is required, we will acquire a court order so that we can verify that we are not engaging in excessive detention or illegal custody.”
“I can’t disclose much detail about an ongoing investigation, but the two guys who were held are supporting us in our investigation,” the investigator said. Those that were let go were either irrelevant or completely irrelevant to the investigation, but the two people who were held are assisting us.
“Eight people were brought in for questioning, six people were permitted to go, and the remaining two were the ones that were placed under arrest, and that makes them suspects,” the police officer said. “Eight people were brought in for questioning, and six people were allowed to go.”
