“A website” is a term that many people use as a synonym for “web page”. Is this application correct? If not, what is the difference between the two phrases and when should they be used?
In this article, Niketrainers.com.co will tell you:
What is a website?
What is a website? It is a website that can be loaded and viewed by the user from thebrowser level. In practice, such files are located on the server for which the administrator pays (hosting service). After entering the appropriate URL in the browser, the Internet user connects to such a server and then receives a response in the form of a website. Such a website can be a company website, a shop, a social networking site, or any other type of internet content. According to websitesetup.org, there are over 1.7 billion websites available across the web, and over 500,000 new ones are created every day. Of course, many old pages collapse or expire in the meantime. Overall, however, the number of websites is really huge.
How much does a website cost?
Now that we’ve explained what a website is, it’s worth knowing how much it costs to set up and maintain it. However, it should be remembered that the prices for a subscription for a domain orhostingdiffer from each other depending on the conditions and rates of the provider. Typically, the first year of website maintenance is cheaper—this is how companies want to encourage people to use their services. The average cost of a subscription for hosting and a domain is about PLN 90 gross. After one year, this price may increase to approximately PLN 150-200 gross.
The costs mentioned above are practically a “mandatory” minimum in the context of having your own website. If you cannot design and configure your website yourself, you will need the help of an experienced webmaster. Depending on your needs, the implementation of a simple website (several subpages, not very complicated design and UX) is around 230–577 USD gross. The price increases if the website is small but has modern technological solutions or unconventional graphic design. Online stores can be more expensive, while the greatest costs are generated by complex portals and applications that are designed to offer various types of functionalities.
The cost of the website should also include a subscription for the CMS system, if the administrator uses SaaS (Software as a Service) or open source software that requires additional fees. However, it is worth remembering that there are many free solutions. WordPress is the most popular and trustworthy. It is useful for creating corporate websites and blogs. With the plugin, WooCommerce will become an online store.
Website – how to do it yourself?
Designing a website on your own does not always require knowledge of HTML, CSS or JavaScript. Of course, knowledge in this area will certainly be helpful, while many modern CMS systems are designed in such a way as to limit the direct (manual) modification of the source code to a minimum. The aforementioned WordPress is a perfect example of this. Also, many SaaS systems work this way, however they are paid (annual or monthly subscription).
What does a website consist of?
Depending on how a website is referred to, such a website may consist of various elements. For example, the source code creates HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. In the context of UX /UI, a website consists of menus, navigation, content, images, or other similar resources. However, in terms of structure, the website is:
- <header> – introduction content
- <body> – the main content
- <footer> – footer
The structure can be much more complicated, for example with elements such as nav (navigation) or div (body fragment). The structure of the source code depends on how a given website should be presented.
How is a website different from a website?
A website is widely recognized as being exactly the same as a website. However, these terms should not be used interchangeably. The term “site” applies to the entire site and its subpages. However, a website can be a specific URL. Exactly the same difference is observed in English, where “web page” and “website” are not synonyms.
