Windows 10 is not a huge upgrade to Windows 7 in all respects, and especially in terms of design, some people want to go back to the old days (rather than upgrade to Windows 11). As a result, many users want their Windows 10 PCs to look like Windows 7. The question is, how?
The good news is that you can keep Windows 10 features while enjoying the Windows 7 look that you love. The guide below will show you how you can change certain things so that you can decide which part of your Windows 10 PC you want to look like Windows 7.
In this article, Niketrainers.com.co will tell you:
Modify the boot menu
Changing the Start menu will really give your Windows 10 PC the look of Windows 7. The tool for this task used to be a classic shell, but development has been dead for several years and has been hijacked by open source.Open shelldesign.
During installation, we recommend that you uncheck the “Classic IE” option as this is for Internet Explorer which no longer exists.
The Customize Start Menu tab allows you to decide which links may appear on the Start menu. How much and what you want to change is up to you, but this tool will help you get the look of Windows 7.
A good place to start is to click “Skins” in the open shell settings and then go to “Classic Skin” if you want a more “Windows 7” look.
Please note that once installed, nothing will happen. You have to press the Windows button to view the Open Shell settings.
Remove the lock screen
Getting rid of the lock screen requires making some minor changes to the Registry Editor. If you don’t know it very well, you can skip this step. If you are sure you can make at least some minor changes, open Registry Editor by pressing theWygraćKey andrKey button .
This writesregedit
and when Registry Editor appears, go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindows
.
After reaching the last step, right-click on an empty space in the right-hand side pane and click “New” and then “Key”.
Name the new folder in the left pane “Personalization”. Right click on the right side after creation, then click New-> DWORD (32-bit) Value. This time, call it “NoLockScreen”.
To finish, double-click on the new value and change the value data to “1”. If you ever want to go back to what it was, just change the value back to “0”.
Drop the Activity Center
The Action Center added in Windows 10 is a convenient feature. But if you really want to use Windows 7, you have to get rid of it.
To remove Action Center from the taskbar, you’ll need to use the registry editor again (the simple setup method no longer exists).
Go to the registry editor and then go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsExplorer
If the “Explorer” key does not exist, create it in the “Windows” folder in the registry editor by right-clicking Windows -> New -> Key, then name it “Explorer”.
Under the Explorer key in the right pane, right click on an empty space -> New -> DWORD Value (32 bits). Call the new value “DisableNotificationCenter”, then double-click on it and assign the value “1”.
Use Windows 7 wallpapers and icons
Do you remember the wallpaper with your Windows 7 computer? You are sure to give your Windows 10 PC the look of Windows 7 by adding these wallpapers. You can use old wallpapers to keep a bit of a modern look with a wallpaper like the one shown below.
If you want the original Windows 7 Start button (and why not!), You can find a great choice inthe Classic Shell Forum. Just right-click on the style you want from the list and download it.
To replace all Windows 10 icons with Windows 7 icons, see thisWindows 7 Icon Pack.
Then go to the Open Shell settings, click the Start Menu Style tab, check the Replace Start Button box, then select “Custom -> Select Image” and select the icon you just downloaded.
Recover Windows 7 Calendar
Making the Windows 10 calendar look like the Windows 7 calendar will require you to make some changes to the registry.
If you lose your Windows 7 volume control and want to get it back, go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion
.
Right-click on an empty space in the right pane and select “Edit -> New -> Key”. When asked to save, name it “MTCUVC”.
Right-click on an empty space in the right pane again, go to “Edit -> DWORD (32-bit) Value”, save as “EnableMtcUvc” and press Enter. After creating the DWORD, double-click it and make sure the value data is set to “0”. Click OK to save your changes.
If you want to add a Windows 7 analog clock, go toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionImmersiveShell
. Right click on the black box again as before and go to “Edit -> New -> DWORD (32 bit)”.
When it’s time to name it, name it “UseWin32TrayClockExperience” and press Enter. Double-click it and make sure the value data is 1 and click OK.
