A video from two years ago showing street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, participating in a demonstration using the hashtag “#EndSARS,” has recently been discovered online.
Portable had joined the thousands of other Nigerians who had taken to the streets to demonstrate against the police harassment and brutality.
On October 20, 2022, the day of the memorial for the Lekki shooting and EndSARS, a clip was uploaded to an Instagram blog and shared with the public.
The Zazuu crooner was caught while he was in the midst of security officers talking about how authorities need to stop categorizing the youths while he stated that he is not involved in internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo).
Portable held a placard which read;
“EndSARS’, ‘End Police Brutality’, ‘Soro Were’, ‘Soro Soke.”
“EndSARS’, ‘End Police Brutality’, ‘Soro Were’, ‘Soro Soke.”
The video elicited amusing responses from Nigerians, many of whom considered it interesting because, at the time, he was still a rising musician. This led to the creation of hilarious memes.
